Blog | October 21st, 2022Keeping your dishes and glasses clean is critical to the success of your business. Cleaning your filthy items is a critical success factor for health inspectors, and it may make or break your business’s reputation. Choosing the right commercial dishwasher is crucial if you want to ensure that your business continues to thrive while adhering to federal, state, and local laws. Before purchasing a commercial dishwasher, there are several factors to consider.
Commercial dishwashers come in various types to suit a wide range of establishments. This section will assist you in determining which dishwasher is appropriate for your business. Check out our commercial dishwasher basic maintenance guide as well!
Door Type / Rack Dishwashers
Door type or rack dishwashers are smaller versions of conveyor washers that attach to either clean or dirty dish tables. Fill a compatible rack with dishes, place it inside the dishwasher, close the door, and start the cleaning cycle. Within seconds, you can push the door back up, and your dishes are clean.
A commercial ware washer can typically process 30 to 350 dish and flatware racks daily, making them ideal for small-scale operations. These, like conveyor versions, are available in high and low-temperature designs. Rack washers are smaller than conveyor dishwashers and are intended to be placed out of the way of kitchen traffic, usually in a corner or against a wall. However, many still consume too much electricity to be powered by a standard socket and should be fitted by an electrician.
Conveyor Dishwashers
Conveyor dishwashers are huge, heavy, and strong, capable of washing between 350 and 1000 dish and flatware racks daily. These stainless steel commercial ware-washing machines are intended for heavy use in cafeterias, hospitals, and other high-volume operations. Many have microprocessors and simple controls for setting washing conditions. There are also Energy Star versions to aid reduce electricity use, and they are available in both high and low-temperature variants. However, because they are so strong, a commercial conveyor dishwasher must be hard-wired by a trained electrician.
Undercounter Commercial Dishwashers
Undercounter dishwashers are an ideal alternative for small kitchens or bars where you can clean as you go but not quickly. They can clean 20 to 30 dish and flatware racks at a time, ensuring that your business has a consistent supply of clean dinnerware throughout the day.
Most commercial dishwashing equipment of this type has a single door on the front and looks similar to domestic washing machines, but they can have a range of controls and displays to allow you to operate more efficiently. They are available in high and low-temperature models, and because they fit neatly beneath your countertop, they are most convenient when utilised in the front of the restaurant, eliminating the distance and time required to return clean tableware to your customers.
